Yes, PhraseVault is designed for multi-user access. Here's how to set it up:
Option 1: Move Existing Database
- Open PhraseVault
- Go to "Help" > "Show Phrase Database File" to locate your current database file
- Close PhraseVault completely
- Move the database file (
.sqlite) to a shared location (NAS or cloud storage) - Reopen PhraseVault
- Go to "File" > "Open Database" and load the database from the new location
Option 2: Create New Shared Database
- Go to "File" > "New Database"
- Save the new database file directly into a shared folder
- Other users can load the database via "File" > "Open Database"
Recommended Locations
- NAS/Network Drive – Best option for teams, minimal sync latency
- Cloud Storage (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox) – Works well, but see note below
Important: Cloud Storage Sync Latency
When using cloud storage, there may be a delay before changes sync to other users. To avoid conflicts:
- Establish an internal editing policy – Only one person should edit phrases at a time, or assign different phrase categories to different team members
- Wait for sync – After making changes, allow time for the cloud service to sync before others edit
- Consider a NAS – For teams with frequent edits, a network drive eliminates sync delays
Example
A company uses Google Drive and places the database at G:TeamPhrasesphrasevault.sqlite. All team members load this database and follow an editing policy where only the team lead makes changes.
Note: Ensure all installations of PhraseVault are kept at the same version to avoid compatibility issues.
