What Offline Operation Means

When we say PhraseVault works offline, we mean it completely:

• Snippet creation and editing — works without internet
• Snippet expansion — works without internet
• Search and navigation — works without internet
• License validation — does not require internet
• Application startup — does not require internet
• Team sharing — works over local network (shared folder), no internet required

The only scenario where an internet connection is used is when you choose to download an update.

Why Offline Matters

Reliability

Cloud-dependent tools stop working when the internet is down, when the service has an outage, or when the provider discontinues the product. An offline tool works as long as your computer works.

Restricted Environments

Many workplaces restrict internet access for security reasons: government offices, defense contractors, financial institutions, healthcare facilities. An offline text expander works in these environments without exceptions or workarounds.

Travel and Remote Work

Airplanes, trains, remote locations, or areas with unreliable connectivity. An offline tool does not care about your network status.

Privacy and Data Sovereignty

No Subscription Validation

Some subscription-based tools periodically verify your license status online. If the check fails — due to network issues, expired payment method, or service changes — you may lose access to your own snippets. PhraseVault's one-time license does not perform online validation. Once purchased, the software works indefinitely without phoning home.
