PhraseVault® on Linux runs on Omarchy and Arch Linux with Hyprland (x86_64). This page covers the signed pacman repository, the shortcut that summons the app, and updates.
Install on Omarchy
Omarchy and Arch install PhraseVault from PhraseVault's signed pacman repository, [phrasevault]. The server line is Server = https://static.phrasevault.app/arch/$arch. The app has no installer of its own.
Signing key fingerprint. Before you trust the key, compare its fingerprint with the one shown here:
9F92 E5A8 CD21 F39F C5C1 947A ADB8 318B 56D9 5A0C
The key is PhraseVault Packages <office@spqrk.net>, ed25519. It expires on 14 October 2029. The public key is at phrasevault-packages.asc.
Omarchy rewrites /etc/pacman.conf when you run omarchy refresh pacman, so the repository goes in /etc/pacman.d/custom-repos.conf. Omarchy's add-custom-repo hook includes that file again after every refresh.
Run this block. Steps 1–4 trust the key, add the repository, install the hook, and install PhraseVault.
# 1. Trust the PhraseVault packaging key (compare the fingerprint with phrasevault.app)
curl -fsSLo /tmp/phrasevault-packages.asc https://static.phrasevault.app/arch/phrasevault-packages.asc
sudo pacman-key --add /tmp/phrasevault-packages.asc
sudo pacman-key --lsign-key 9F92E5A8CD21F39FC5C1947AADB8318B56D95A0C
# 2. Add the repository where Omarchy keeps custom repos
grep -qx '\[phrasevault\]' /etc/pacman.d/custom-repos.conf 2>/dev/null ||
printf '[phrasevault]\nServer = https://static.phrasevault.app/arch/$arch\n' | sudo tee -a /etc/pacman.d/custom-repos.conf
# 3. Include it in pacman.conf now and after every `omarchy refresh pacman`
hook=~/.config/omarchy/hooks/pre-refresh-pacman.d/add-custom-repo
mkdir -p "$(dirname "$hook")"
cp /usr/share/omarchy/config/omarchy/hooks/pre-refresh-pacman.d/add-custom-repo.sample "$hook"
bash "$hook"
# 4. Install
omarchy update
omarchy pkg add phrasevault
The package installs PhraseVault and links phrasevault to /usr/bin/phrasevault, so the command is on your PATH.
Install on plain Arch
Run step 1 from the block above, so pacman trusts the same key. Then add this section to /etc/pacman.conf:
[phrasevault]
Server = https://static.phrasevault.app/arch/$arch
Install PhraseVault:
sudo pacman -Syu phrasevault
Add the Hyprland shortcut
Hyprland summons PhraseVault. The app does not register an Electron global shortcut there, so Settings → Preferences shows the bind line with Copy instead of Record. The bind opens PhraseVault, and automatic paste and returning focus depend on it. CTRL + PERIOD is an example. Any free key works. Give one key one summon path.
The Arch package provides phrasevault summon. It works with the command-line feature turned off, and it starts the app when it is not running.
Omarchy
Omarchy configures Hyprland in Lua. Add this line to ~/.config/hypr/bindings.lua. Hyprland reloads the file when you save it.
o.bind("CTRL + PERIOD", "PhraseVault", "phrasevault summon")
Other Arch systems with Hyprland
On a classic Hyprland config, add this line to ~/.config/hypr/hyprland.conf:
bind = CTRL, PERIOD, exec, phrasevault summon
Save the file, then reload Hyprland so it reads the new line.
The window floats and centers itself on the current monitor. You do not need a window rule.
On Linux, PhraseVault puts the previous clipboard back as plain text. Formatted content does not come back.
What the first launch does
- License agreement. Accept it to continue. If you decline, PhraseVault quits. Existing license holders who decline can keep using PhraseVault 3.x under their earlier terms, on Windows or macOS only. There is no Linux build of 3.x. Download 3.x for Windows or macOS.
- A 14-day trial starts on its own. No account, no license key, and no credit card. Every feature is available during the trial. After 14 days without a license, auto-paste pauses. Copy, search, and editing keep working. See what happens after the trial.
- A window opens the first time. It floats and centers on the current monitor. Closing the window leaves PhraseVault running.
- Start at Login is on. To turn off autostart, open Settings → Preferences, switch Start at Login off, and click Save preferences.
Press the Hyprland shortcut, type a few letters of a phrase's name or unprotected text, and press Enter to paste it. Search, editing, and inserting are in how to use PhraseVault.
Updates
On Linux the app has no updater. The Arch package has no Check for Updates. Settings → About says your package manager installs updates, and on Omarchy it names omarchy update.
On Omarchy:
omarchy update
On Arch:
sudo pacman -Syu
Your phrases stay in ~/.config/phrasevault.
Uninstall
On Omarchy:
omarchy pkg drop phrasevault
On Arch:
sudo pacman -R phrasevault
That removes the package. Phrases and settings stay in ~/.config/phrasevault. Delete that folder only when you want the data gone.
Command line
The Arch package puts phrasevault on your PATH at /usr/bin/phrasevault. The command-line feature stays off until you turn it on under Settings → Security. See the command-line guide.
Download PhraseVault and try it for 14 days. No credit card.
