How do I upgrade the application?

Windows

If You Installed via Microsoft Store

The Microsoft Store automatically updates PhraseVault. No action required.

If You Installed via Direct Download or Winget

Standard Upgrade (from v2.2.3 or later):

1. Close PhraseVault if it's currently running.
2. Go to our download page and download the new EXE file.
3. Double-click the downloaded EXE file. It will automatically replace the previous version.

Using Winget:

winget upgrade --id ptmrio.phrasevault -e

Upgrading from v2.2.2 or Earlier (One-Time Manual Uninstall Required)

We switched to a new installer technology starting with v2.2.3. If you're upgrading from v2.2.2 or earlier, you need to uninstall the old version first:

1. Open Windows Settings (Win + I)
2. Go to Apps → Installed apps
3. Search for PhraseVault
4. Look for the version with the orange accent logo
5. Click the three dots (...) and select Uninstall

Then install the new version. Your data is safe – uninstalling does not delete your phrases or settings.

macOS

1. Close PhraseVault if it's currently running.
2. Go to our download page and download the new PKG file.
3. Double-click the downloaded PKG file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: Currently there is no automatic update notification, so please check our website regularly for new versions.
